A Lifelong Passion for Cars

For Adam Pelayo, auto repair isn’t just a career; it’s a lifelong calling. Since he was a kid, Adam has always loved cars. His journey began at just 7 years old when he first got into working under the hood. It was in that defining moment he knew he loved cars and that they were going to be his future. Adam remembers his first car, a 1972 Volkswagen Beetle, with great fondness, noting that it “is who I am”. 

After working at Accurate Transmissions and gaining extensive experience, Adam took the steps to become his own boss and open his own shop. Today, he brings 45 years of experience in the automotive repair industry to the garage every single day.

A Family Business Dedicated to Chicago

Thirty years ago, Adam came to the Chicago area looking for a job, found AAMCO, and the rest is history. Today, AAMCO Chicago on 12307 S Halsted St is a true family operation, with Adam’s three sons working alongside him in the shop. They are deeply involved in the local community, proudly supporting the Sheriff’s Department, the Chicago Police, and the State Troopers.

When he isn’t enjoying the peace of working on a car in the shop, Adam enjoys cooking, exercising, and spending time in his backyard.
